The following links contain basic information about each of our operating divisions.  Through these links you can find out what each division does; what you could expect during your first year; how each division is organized; each division's qualifications for employment; and how and when you would be evaluated.  

 

You might also want to check out our "Assess Your Fit" table to identify characteristics related to education requirements, minimum skill levels, work environment, travel expectations, and minimum employment requirements specific to each of our operating divisions. 

We will acknowledge receipt of your material within 1 week.  However, it may take us several weeks to review your application and determine whether we would like to pursue further conversations with you.  If so, and you continue to be interested in our Office, an interview will be scheduled.

Interviews:
Actual interview time is about 2 hours. During this time, the interviewers will attempt to determine whether you and our Office are a good fit for each other.

Our divisions generally prefer that the interview take place at our offices.  Some of our divisions conduct panel interviews; others conduct a series of two interviews.  Some divisions schedule the series of two interviews on the same day. Our Performance Audit Division prefers to assess mutual fit before deciding whether to schedule a second interview. In any case, you will also get a tour of the office and meet people you might be working with.

Reference checks:
If we believe that you may be a good fit for our Office, we will call your previous employers and the people you have listed as references.

Offers:
We will notify you as soon as we determine whether we are able to extend an employment offer to you.  We prefer to have this process take under 2 months.  However, our audit reporting responsibilities and deadlines may delay our hiring process.

Our offer letter will allow you up to 2 weeks to respond.  Take this time to talk over this important decision with your family and friends and determine whether working with us is compatible with your goals.

Yes. In fact, we prefer that you submit only one resume and application. However, some divisions require an additional application packet.  If you need to complete one, we will send it to you after we receive your initial materials.

No. We believe the candidates we hire are well suited for our Office.  However, all employees work at the pleasure of the Auditor General.

No. We do not follow the standard state graded pay system.

Yes, if both divisions are agreeable.  However, we believe it takes at least 6 months to know a division.

No. Further, the Office of the Auditor General has the right to terminate employment at any time regardless of date of payment of wages or salary; however, terminations are generally a result of our employees pursuing other opportunities.
